“CSI” series to wrap-up finale with 2-hour TV movie
It has been announced that CBS is cancelling the long-running American crime drama television series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” according to multiple reports.
The news came about shortly after “American Idol” announced its final season too.
According industry insiders, the series will wrap-up its final season with a two-hour long movie, Huffington Post reports.
Rumour has it that the original star of “CSI” William Petersen will return for the finale, but CBS did not affirm the news.
“CSI” – also known as “CSI: Las Vegas” – has generated three spinoffs; "CSI: Miami," "CSI: New York," and the latest "CSI: Cyber" which debuted in March 2015.
Nevertheless, “CSI” fans can rejoice as "CSI: Cyber" is expected to continue its run since it has been renewed for a second season.
“CSI” has been recognised as the most popular dramatic series internationally by the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo, which has awarded it the International Television Audience Award for Best Television Drama Series for three times, CBS reports.
