American reality show “Survivor” to be shot in Cambodia
"The U.S. show “Survivor” will begin filming in March at Koh Rong Island off the coast of Preah Sihanouk province and currently, their crew have been preparing scenes and installing equipment on the island," said Preah Sihanouk, the provincial governor Chhit Sokhon to Xinhua.
Making its debut in 2000, “Survivor” is based on the Swedish show “Expedition Robinson”, and with its long successful run since then, had its 30th season premiere last Wednesday in the United States.
The 13th season of the French version of “Survivor” was also shot at Cambodia’s island of Koh Rong but the series was cancelled due to the death of a contestant followed by the suicide of the program’s on-site doctor.

The recent seasons of “Survivor” has gotten over 13 million views worldwide, thus Chhit believes that filming the latest season in Cambodia will definitely help boost foreign tourist arrivals to Cambodia's coastal areas.
“Survivor” brings contestants from the U.S. out of the comfort of their homes to the wild outdoors, as they are pitted against each other in a series of challenges for the million dollar cash prize while trying to outlive, outplay and outlast each other till the end.
