Catch local buskers in Kuala Lumpur for BuskStop
Let’s support our local street musical performers because BuskStop is back in town for a second season!
After the huge success of last year’s BuskStop which had over 40 participating musicians, this year KakiSeni has launched the second season which is now running up until 3 May 2015.
Catch some familiar faces from our local music scene at these three venues; Pavilion KL, Quill City Mall and Berjaya Times Square at specially designed zones called the BuskStop.
There will be around 48 performers this year and every busking session will last for 30-45 minutes.
“It’s also a way for us to spot creative talent and to enliven the city. We want to make busking a part of KL’s identity, to add vibrancy to the city,” said the National Department of Culture and the Arts (JKKN) director-general, Datuk Norliza Rofli as quoted by The Star.
The programme is curated by singer-songwriters Reza Salleh, Hameer Zawawi and Fikri Fadzil, the founder of The Wknd, a web-based music portal under Popfolio Network, and is supported by JKKN.
In the first season of BuskStop, Paladin, Asia's First Cello Rock Band from Kuala Lumpur which consists of 5 Cellists and a Drummer, is one the most successful buskers in the season as they received a total of RM1,000 from their 30-minute busking session.
For now, there is no fixed schedule for the second season of BuskStop but fans can get updates of the programme via Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #Buskstop.
