As we’re all made to believe, Valentine's Day is a day for couples to spend a romantic evening together, appreciating each other and showing their gratitude towards one another.
At least that's what everyone makes it looks like. But in reality, Valentine's Day is the day when all the boyfriends have to spend a lot of amount of money to satisfy their girlfriends. And not surprisingly, the parties who benefit the most on this day are the florists, the restaurants and the gift shops!
1. Go on a shopping spree
Spend the money you have on yourself by going on a wild shopping spree and buy things that you never got the chance to buy or have always wanted. Let's face it, during Valentine's Day the prices for flowers, gifts and food are tripled, but you don’t have to worry about that because you are only treating yourself and the thing you buy will actually be something you really want, so you don’t really lose anything.
2. Have a spa day
Spend a comforting evening at a nice and relaxing spa or massage parlour because you definitely deserve it. After spending 24/7 a day working your butt off, it is time for you to take a break and be nice to yourself. And what better way to do it than a nice long spa day on Valentine's Day itself? While you’re at it, you might want to have a manicure or pedicure treatment as well.
3. Have a movie marathon
Invite your other single friends or even your family to the nearest cinema and have an all-night movie marathon. Or, to save your money, you can just watch the DVD collections you have like; "Harry Potter", "The Lord of the Rings" or “Narnia” series and have a movie marathon on your couch at your very own house! You can also crash at one of your friends’ house and watch it there.
4. Throw a party
Host a party complete with many fun games and activities and be sure to invite all your friends, colleagues, families and relatives to enjoy the night away. Who says that Valentine's is only celebrated among couples? Love comes in all shapes and sizes so celebrate this day with all the important people that you have in your life!
5. Go on a road trip
Pack your bags or just bring yourself and go on an exciting road trip at the country side along with your best buddies or your family members. Don’t stress yourself and just enjoy the ride of the trip as well as the beautiful scenery that you see along the ride. Use this chance and create some special and unforgettable memories with your loved ones during this one day trip.
6. Try something new
There must've been something that you always wanted to do, a hobby or interest that you neglected like trying out new recipes or go on a hiking trip, or taking a one-day dance class, something that you never get the chance to do because of your everyday busy schedule. Well, this is the day for you to do it because you'll be having the whole day or yourself anyway, so why not go all out!
7. Do a volunteering work
Help the people in need at the orphanage, the disabled or the old folks’ home. When you help someone, it’ll make you feel better and volunteering is the perfect way for you to share and spread your love to those in need. There is a wise saying by Saint Basil, “A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.”
