Facebook denies Lizard Squad responsible for hack
Facebook confirms that the outage of Facebook, Instagram and Tinder was not caused by the hacker group, Lizard Squad.
Yesterday, popular social media platforms; Facebook and Instagram as well as the famous dating app, Tinder, all went down at the same time, globally.
Initially, it was believed that the cause of the breakdown was due to the hacker group, Lizard Squad who is responsible for the hacking of MAS website that happened 2 days ago, as they hinted the breakdown of three sites along with AIM, Hipchat on their Twitter that same day.
However, a Facebook spokesperson has confirmed that the attack was “not the result of a third party attack but instead occurred after we introduced a change that affected our configuration systems,” The Verge reports.
AIM and Hipchat did not go through any breakdown at the end and it is believed that the Lizard Squad is trying to garner attention by taking credit for the outage.
The breakdown of the three sites recovered an hour later as the Facebook spokesperson commented that the site’s engineer “moved quickly to fix the problem, and both services were back to 100% for everyone.”
