No New Year celebration in Putrajaya
In respect of the people who are affected by the worsening flood situation, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has announced the cancellation of the New Year celebrations in Putrajaya, The Star reports.
“I will discuss with Tan Sri Azman Hashim (Ambank Group chairman) on the matter, to see if he is agreeable for the RM3 million set aside for the celebration to be channelled to flood victims instead,” said Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan.
After discussions between Putrajaya Corporation (Perbadanan Putrajaya) and Ambank Group, the celebration to welcome the year of 2015, which was scheduled to be held on the night of 31 December 2015, has officially been cancelled - as indicated by Putrajaya Corporation's post on its Facebook page.
The states that are affected by the flood are: Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Kedah and Sabah. More than 90,250 people have been evacuated due to the worsening of the flood situation.
“I hope we as Malaysians would come together in this time of need to show support for the adversity faced by our fellow countrymen,” said Kuala Selangor MP, Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim.
“Let us all pray that the weather would improve and may the families and victims affected by the floods be brought to safety and given sufficient help.”
