Stan Lee goes Bollywood with India first Marvel superhero!
Legendary comic book figure, Stan Lee who has created numerous famous superheroes for Marvel has revealed that his next plan is to develop a live-action superhero movie based on his first Indian superhero, “Chakra: The Invincible”.
Although not many details were revealed regarding the project, Hollywood Reporter informs that Lee has already been meeting with top Bollywood directors and actors for the adaptation.
"We've set up some great meetings already with some of the most amazingly talented actors and directors in Indian cinema and I have no doubt that these individuals will help make the Chakra film a massive hit in India and around the globe," said Lee in a statement.
Stan Lee created his first Indian superhero comic, “Chakra: The Invincible” back in 2011. The story follows the adventures of a young Indian boy named Raju Rai from Mumbai, India, who is a tech genius that develops a technology suit that activates the mystical chakras of the body.
With the super suit, Rai defends the city from evil threats and villains. An animated film of “Chakra: The Invincible” was released on Cartoon Network India channel on 30 November 2013.
“The incredible story of Chakra, one of my latest and most exciting superhero creations, promises to captivate audiences in India and around the world with his adventures,” said Lee to Hollywood Reporter.
However, the live-action film is reportedly to feature an adult version of Rai fighting against his archenemy, Boss Yama. The production is scheduled to start in either late 2015 or early 2016, Rolling Stone reported.
