Didi Astillah wants to rap with local artistes

An up and coming name in the local music industry, Didi Astillah recently revealed in her interview with TheHive.Asia that she wishes to duet with local rappers such as Joe Flizzow, SonaOne or Altimet.

The pint sized singer revealed that she really enjoys pop songs and it would be nice if her singles could feature some hip hop beats or even a bit of rap.

Didi is a sweet 18-years old singer.

The 18-year-old is a fan of Ariana Grande’s “Problem” where Iggy Azalea is also featured rapping, so it’s no surprise that she would like to emulate them too.

Of course among the first names that comes to Didi’s mind are none other than our very own homegrown talents.

“If I have the chance to do so, I would really love to collaborate with the local rappers such as Joe Flizzow, SonaOne or Altimet.”

Apart from taking the hip hop route, the Warner Music artiste also mentioned that she wishes to duet with Dato' Siti Nurhaliza, however, she does not think that it would be possible considering the genre clash.

Dato' Siti Nurhaliza is known for her ballad songs.

With such big local names thrown into the mix, one would think that Didi’s idol would also be one that’s been long established in the local music industry, but it turns out to be quite the opposite.

The growing popularity of fresh talent in the form of Stacy, the champion of season 6 of “Akademi Fantasia” is Didi’s biggest inspiration.

This is not only because both Didi and Stacy hail from Sabah, but as Didi puts it, “[Stacy] can sing and dance. She can also sing different genres of music such as the fast paced ones and even ballads at ease. But most importantly, she has a lovely voice.”

Agnes Monica, Cher Lloyd and Ariana Grande are the other stars Didi also looks up for inspiration.
