UPDATE: Six nudists arrested in Malaysia
The Star has reported that six nudists have been arrested on Thursday, 28 August 2014 by Malaysian police force after the Nude Sports Games 2014 that took place in Penang on 30 May 2014.
The six men were sentenced a month jail and a fine of RM5,000.while the other four who claimed trial were separately charged under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum sentence of three months’ jail, a fine or both.
The outrageous nude sports that happened at a beach in Teluk Bahang, Penang sparked outrage among the Muslim and non-Muslim communities for displaying obscene activities.
All of the ten nudists are Malaysian but two of them are permanent residents of Singapore.
One of the nudists, Yam Kam Hoong, 54, got a second charge guilty for circulating obscene video clips of the event which can be charge under under Section 292 carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine or both.
The Star also reported that Magistrate Muhammad Najib Ismail ordered him to be jailed for further six months so that it runs concurrently with the other jail term.
The magistrate also allowed a bail at RM4,000 with one guarantor for the remaining four nudists who claimed trial and fixed 16 Oct 2014 for mention.
