Michael Jackson’s music video premieres on Twitter
Michael Jackson may no longer be in this world but that doesn’t stop him from making history. The King of Pop’s newly released music video became the first ever to debut via Twitter.
“A Place with No Name” was released last night on the social networking site. Other than its Tweet debut, it was also shown in Times Square – on the Sony video screen.
The song is inspired by America’s “A Horse with No Name”. Michael Jackson reportedly wrote and recorded the song in 1998. It is featured on his posthumous album Xscape, which has unfinished material recorded between 1983 to 1999 with added production from Timbaland and Stargate, among others. The album made it to the top of the UK chart when it was released back in May. It has been positively received by critics as well.
Samuel Bayer directed the music video and it features behind-the-scenes footage from “The Closet”, Jackson’s 1992 single.
Twitter promoted the premiere by creating a map that showed the “Man in the mirror” singer’s top tweeted songs in different countries.
