Merchant gets 2,000 Chris Smalling mugs wrongly printed with Obama’s face
Looks like someones lack of general knowledge and obviously football knowledge have cost them quite a hilarious mistake! A World Cup merchant had mistaken American President, Barrack Obama for the English football player Chris Smalling. What a disaster!
An unnamed company that produces World Cup merchandise became a laughing stock when the company carelessly got the identities of the two prominent personalities mixed up on 2,000 of their mugs!

According to the Mirror.com, before the World Cup tournament in Brazil, the company was given a task of sourcing images of each of the Three Lions players onto mugs along with some other merchandise such as coasters, mats and much more.

However, when the mugs were pulled out for closer inspection, it was found that the centre back for Manchester United, Chris Smalling’s photo was replaced with a badly photoshopped Obama’s head instead.
After realising the mistake, the stock was immediately turned to Dorset-based expert clearance resellers Wholesale Clearance UK to try and shift the stock.
The blame of the hasty blunder was put on a junior staff member who was in charge of sourcing the pictures.
According to the New York Daily News, Karl Baxter for Wholesale Clearance explains, ”They passed this onto to their young, bright eyed and bushy tailed new apprentice. The designs were proofed and signed off by their boss, who had clearly a heavy night with the lads playing poker and before he’d had his first vat of coffee the following morning.”

“They immediately contacted us and 2,000 of the England items was dispatched to our warehouse. We eagerly unpacked them and, indeed it turned out that the Chris Smalling mug had Barack Obama’s head on instead of Chris’s.”
Wholesale Clearance is now selling the mugs for £2,000 (MYR10,954).
Karl also added: "This is your chance to snatch up a piece of World Cup history. Who would ever believe that Barack Obama ever played for England? Hang on to this England cup and you'll have a great story to tell your grandkids."
