New Michael Jackson album to come in May with 8 new songs
The legendary pop superstar, who died in June 2009 of acute proposal and benzodiazepine intoxication after a cardiac arrest, is releasing another new record with 8 unheard songs through his estate, who greenlit the release.
Produced by Timbaland, who is responsible for Justin Timberlake, One Republic and Nelly Furtado's biggest hits, the new Michael Jackson album titled 'XSCAPE' and is set for a release on May 13 this year.
Said Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid in a press release this morning, "Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world. Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world."
The songs were retooled “to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson’s essence and integrity.”
The album’s title is also the name of one of the new songs. The press release notes that the name of the album 'honors Michael’s album naming process.' Fans may recall that he always titled his albums after one of its songs.
The new album’s track list isn’t available at this time, but pre-orders for 'XSCAPE' begin tomorrow, April 1. It is his eleventh studio album and the first since 2001.
