James Rebhorn, actor of "Homeland" passes away
Television show "Homeland" has lost one of their most prolific actors. James Rebhorn, who played Claire Danes' character Carrie Mathison's father in the award winning television show, passed away on March 21 at the age of 65.
"He died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992," said his agent Dianne Busch. "He continued to work though. He died on Friday afternoon at home in New Jersey, having hospice care there for the last two weeks. His family was with him."
Dianne also revealed that James "went peacefully."
In addition to his "Homeland" role, Rebhorn, the longtime character actor appeared in movies such as "My Cousin Vinny" and "Scent of a Woman" and portrayed the district attorney who locked up the "Seinfeld" crew in the TV show’s two-part finale. He also had a recent recurring role on the show "White Collar" as Special Agent Reese Hughes.
Actor and son of multiple Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks, Colim Hanks tweeted about the loss, "Sad news about James Rebhorn. No matter the role, he was always comforting to watch. Effortless."
